The Access to Seeds Index’ findings were used by USAID to inform their Gender and Social Inclusion Action Plan.
“Technology Innovation Barriers: The technology development and application often overlooks female, DAGs preferences. The Access to Seed index report 2016 reports that only 3 out of 17 global seed companies take into account the women farmers’ input. This has implications on technology usage in terms of gender. The top down approach of the technological innovation and negligence of female preferences for technology development makes the technology adoption less feasible to these groups of population.”
