Cardno Emerging Markets, based in Nairobi, was selected to develop the Access to Seeds Index for Eastern Africa. Next to the Global Index, the Access to Seeds Index also puts the spotlight on specific regions, starting with Eastern Africa. The Regional Index will assess how global, regional and national seed companies on a regional level are extending a helping hand to smallholder farmers. As so, the Regional Index can focus on specific regional needs and requirements. These are identified through consultations of stakeholders in the region. The finalization of the methodology of the Regional Index is scheduled for February 2015.
