Bridging the gap between the world’s leading seed companies and the smallholder farmer

The Access to Seeds Index assesses and ranks the world’s leading seed companies as well as leading seed companies in specific regions, based on their contribution to the sustainable intensification of smallholder agriculture. By doing so, it aims to enable an informed dialogue between the seed industry and its stakeholders on where and how seed companies can step up their efforts to increase the availability, accessibility and affordability of quality seeds of improved varieties that meet the needs, demands and capabilities of smallholder farmers.

As an independent ranking, the Access to Seeds Index provides an unbiased, transparent means for companies to benchmark their own progress and that of their peers as well as identify areas for improvement. It also serves as a valuable tool for stakeholders interested in monitoring, engaging or partnering with the seed industry on access to seeds issues.
